A stroll along the main historic thoroughfares of Beacon revealed a flurry of arts activity and renovation in this Hudson Valley town 65 miles north of New York City, where art galleries are flourishing and chic restaurants have blossomed.

I found myself wishing I had shown up a little earlier — maybe ten years or so! — to record the face of this former factory town that had seen some hard times before change set in so indelibly. But the blocked up windows and the artist’s cryptic (to me) message on the back doorway of this building on the railroad tracks reminded me there was still time to record the transition.

It seems that time marches on, but it leaves its markers too.

About Susan Reinberg

My digital diaries and altered states photographs are my way of sharing my personal vision. These images reflect my daily life and surroundings. I would like to range farther in my photographic journeys. But in the meantime, as any photographer knows, the images are at my doorstep.
