“Watchers,” Hospital Corridor, Miami Beach 2013

Transforming reality is my camera’s natural inclination I discovered one day while studying its settings in a doctor’s waiting room. Thus began my “Altered States” obsession. I began to photograph in waiting rooms, institutional corridors, supermarkets, discount stores, quicky marts and malls, anywhere ordinary life might encroach on photographic inspiration.

While I was photographing the ceiling mirror at a hallway intersection, a hospital security guard sternly warned me not to take pictures. I obliged, of course, and put away my camera. I already knew that I was being “watched.”

About Susan Reinberg

My digital diaries and altered states photographs are my way of sharing my personal vision. These images reflect my daily life and surroundings. I would like to range farther in my photographic journeys. But in the meantime, as any photographer knows, the images are at my doorstep.
